The McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture for HealthProfessionals is a practical training program that consists of five
three-day weekend units (126 contact hours) plus a concurrent
self-directed home study portion (174 hours). Spring and Fall
sessions have been offered every year since 1998.
The program is skill based and clinically oriented, with over 80 hours
devoted to practical workshops such as surface anatomy palpation,
insertion needling skills, anatomy laboratory, condition specific
blueprint treatment design, and real patient’s treatment. This
practical contemporary hands-on approach helps participants
consistently achieve the program’s objectives.
The McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture for Health
Professionals program is recognized in different dimensions by the
American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, the American Board of Medical
Acupuncture, and many professional colleges, associations, and
licensing boards throughout Canada and the USA. Over 1100 health
professionals have graduated from the program to date (July 10).
