Self-regulating Strategies for
Overcoming Trauma and Persistent Pain
Instructor: Kim Barthel, BMR, OTR
Location: Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Regina, Saskatchewan
This course will provide clinicians with an introduction to the mind
body connection examining the link between pain, trauma and the healing
process. Neuroscience has mapped the connection between cells in the
brain and the body, revealed the interaction between emotions and gene
expression, highlighted the body’s role in psychological change and
uncovered the influence of somatic stimulation upon cognition. Join us
for this course as we examine how the body and mind are linked together
through feedback mechanisms necessitating the importance of attention to
both physical and psychological processes as an integrative whole in
the field of rehabilitation medicine.
